UNIVERSAL SOLE CHARITY PARTNER - BACK ON MY FEET
Back On My Feet (BOMF) is a nonprofit organization that promotes the self-sufficiency of homeless populations by engaging them in running as a means to build confidence, strength and self-esteem.

• Located: Philadelphia, with chapters in Baltimore, Washington D.C., Boston in May
2010 and Chicago in fall 2010
• Active Number of Members: 850 total, 650 non-residential and 200 residential
• Residential members are those who get involved with Back on My Feet while
living at our partnering transitional facilities. Non-residential members are
volunteers.
• Success: In 2009, more than 120 people found jobs, moved out of a facility and/or
went back to school with the help of Back on My Feet. More than 55 members have
completed a half (13.1 miles) or full (26.2) marathon.
• Budget: From 2008 to 2009, the organization saw a 78 percent growth in revenue
and its operating budget for 2010 is $3 million, supported by a diverse array of
revenue sources from individual donations, events, corporate and foundational
support, among others.
BOMF does not provide food or shelter, but instead provide a community that embraces equality, respect, discipline, teamwork and leadership. Our organization consists of much more than just running: our members participate in a comprehensive program that offers connections to job training, employment and housing. Those benefits are earned by maintaining 90 percent attendance at the morning runs three days a week for our six to nine month program.
The sport of running allows us to increase our fitness and energy levels, it lets us socialize with a great community and it even helps our problems melt away with the miles. Back On My Feet has taken all of those positive attributes and built a foundation for people to use running as a springboard to a new life. Universal Sole is proud to be a partner and excited to see this program succeed in the City of Chicago. Universal Sole will also be the exclusive Chicago home for Back On My Feet running merchandise! Come by and check it out as all pieces sold will go to support BOMF here in Chicago!
